OSSM Summer Math Institute for Middle School Teachers
June 5-10, 2016
The Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics hosts a Summer Math Institute for middle school math teachers, offering instructors the opportunity to enhance their mathematics knowledge and advance their instructional skills. Many thanks to the Sarkeys Foundation for generously sponsoring this important professional development resources for the past several years! OSSM faculty and distinguished guests conduct the Institute. Activities include lectures, demonstrations, lab sessions, and field trips. The Institute addresses topics relevant to middle school math curriculum as defined by the Common Core objectives and deals with enrichment topics such as contest math. We invite you to be challenged, be inspired, and be better!
The Institute is held on the campus of the Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics in Oklahoma City. Housing and meals are provided for teachers who wish to stay on campus. Meals are also provided for commuters. All teachers register Monday morning, June 6th. Teachers staying in the dorm will move in Monday afternoon after the last session. Monday through Thursday activities are scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The Institute concludes early Friday afternoon.
All teachers who successfully complete the Institute will receive a certificate of attendance and a $300 stipend. The certificate recognizes a desire to improve math education in schools and also satisfies requirements for professional development.

Due to limited space, teachers will be selected from a pool of applicants with preference given to those who apply early or who have not previously attended. Submit your application soon!
